Anyone have a fitbit versa? Are they any good?
I picked up one up this past summer despite feeling it would be a waste of money. I still have it on my wrist now.
The features are very useful when working properly but syncing with your phone is a mess.
The fitness tracking is pretty useful but only makes a difference if you excersize regularly. If you jog, bike outdoors you'd probably want a Garmin watch with built in GPS so you can leave your phone behind or even an Apple watch or Samsung so you can listen to music.
The coach app which is basically a workout app on your wrist is great as it vibrates when it's time to move on to the next step. Unless you pay $10/month for premium it will be limited to 3 workouts, chosen by the FitBit app based on their judgement of your fitness level. Periodically refreshes when syncing with app to new workouts. An apple watch with their new fitness program would be better for this esp if your willing to pay the monthly fee.
Notifications on your wrist are very convenient when driving, meetings, etc but often stop working.
You can not really reply from your wrist.
The main problem is that the app is broken. Not malfunctioning, not buggy just broken.
Many features require syncing which is basically impossible. You need to force close the app, toggle bluetooth, restart your phone, log out of your account, reinstall the app to have any hope of a successful sync and even after following all the steps above you usually need to wait 2 or 3 days for a successful sync. Read the FitBit support forums as well their reddit for countless stories of people being told by tech support that they need to factory reset their fitbit (deleting all your fitness history.)
The android app (on Galaxy s8+) has only worked for me once or twice, right after setting up the watch while the iphone app manages to sync about once a week. They blame it on Samsungs power management software limiting the bluetooth battery consumption.
If you try installing any third party apps the watch will prob not sync until you uninstall them.
I still wear it every day but basically use it as a pedometer with pulse sensor to help me gauge how hard I'm working while exercising.
Feel free to ask any specific questions.
