Sprint has a plan add on that costs $3.99 a month (If you want just a few days they prorate it). Using that plan, its 20 cents a  min. Not great but better than 60 cents per min!

anyone know if this is still available? I'm going to Montreal for a weekend and I need to receive and make calls to the US. With Internet will be a great plus.

depending on which plan you have Verizon does have an add on. I am on the family shared data and I added 1000 mins for 15 dollars and 100 mb of data for 25.00. It could also be prorated but then you only get the prorated amount old minutes and data.

You can buy a SIM card from Mobilcity in Canada for $5-$10 and thay are a pay as go. You can get unlimited talk to the US and Canada unlimited text and internet (officially you need to pay an extra $10 a month for smartphone internet, I never do with a Galaxy Nexus) for $45 a month.
:-)
