Creating an abusive environment for employees and using your power to harrass is not "personal issues". Sure, Cuomo should get into trouble for all the stuff he did wrong, and it is bothersome that the left was willing to white wash those issues. But it's also bothersome to minimize his abusive behavior and make as if you'd prefer a criminal, corrupt governor than a decent, law abiding person with differing political views.
"Differing political views" can refer to a wide range of options. Particularly in NY, things can get very ugly, very fast. See the attempts at controlling what private jewish schools teach, and how, and for how long, etc.
If you want to take an extreme approach, one could say that a Nazi party is a differing political view.
