Why wasn’t he in the mix for prez ?

Because his national profile only spiked during Covid. He wouldn't have gotten far in the primaries. As for VP, they limited themselves to women of color and he wasn't about to bail on NYS in the middle of a pandemic. Bad optics and bad for the ego.

Why can't he have his cake and eat it, too? He can get his fourth term in '22, and then make moves to go national in '24.

Here's my twisted logic. The guy is a massive egomaniac who clearly believes he has the ability to run the country. He's 62 now. If he sits out '24, he runs the risk of a Dem winner who sits in office for 8 years. That means he'd be 74 before he gets another legit chance. If he holds any aspirations for higher office, he's going to take his chance while it's there.

My twisted logic, Andrew Cuomo knows he has zero shot to win the presidency, there is more dirt with him then there is with Trump (I’m barely exaggerating). Running and getting embarrassed is inevitable, he won’t even try, he will just be the governor in NY until he dies.
