Oh, but DeSantis did make a tight lockdown--on nursing homes .
You just love fiction, don’t you? 40% of Florida’s deaths are from LTCFs- probably partially because DeSantis allows visitors to come and go without testing.
He also kept parks and outdoor areas open, while keeping out people from hot spots. Florida's numbers are better despite an older population who are at higher risk.
Right. Isn’t it great that DeSantis’s state didn’t get seeded with COVID until 2 months after Cuomo’s, so he actually had knowledge of transmission and prevention that those caught in the initial onslaught didn’t?
DeSantis focused on saving lives while minimizing disruptions to everyone else. It's almost like he had some common sense. Is this guy really a politician?
LOL. Starting from when we knew enough about transmission and protection to actually pick and choose what to implement and what to withhold (May) Florida is top 3 in deaths, deaths per million, cases, and hospitalizations.
Meanwhile, New York was busy "protecting" children (for example by shutting schools, blocking children's camps, and closing parks)
They were protecting other people from transmission by children. But you already know that.
while sending COVID into nursing homes .
Agreed
They also made sure to close many small stores (were there was low risk of transmission) to force everyone together into the big stores.
Not really a science guy, are you?
In summation: Cuomo did a terrible job protecting old people, and also enforced rules poorly and unevenly. He also suffocated people in the name of science with a poor cost-benefit analysis. I dislike him and think there’s plenty to attack him about. But DeSantis is no saint. “Is the guy really a politician?” Give me a break.
And Cuomo has done a far better job at containing COVID than DeSantis after the initial blindside. For that, the CDC and Trump are more to blame than Cuomo, though he does share some of the blame.
