Oh, and if you don't believe 'the big man on the campus' (hey, at least you're good at making this stuff up :P), I got three Plat bonuses this year. Here's more 'proof' to the contrary:

Happy birthday dan!
This year alone i have opened 5 platinum cards and accumulated hundreds of thousands of points, which i could have never done without your advice/these forums
On how many names? if I may ask.

I never said I don't believe.

For your convenience, once he alleged/insinuated that I am simply fabricating, I responded:

I only speak from experience. I take it your experience differs.

Perhaps I should have said YMMV?

Besides, IIRC at least one of your Plat bonuses was for the Plat MB.

Additionally, were any of your Plat bonuses after being UG'd from a Gold (which is what this conversation is about)?

I never said I don't believe.

An ouch (heck, a smidgen) of humility (or even intellectual honesty) would do you a ton of good. You just post away stating 'facts' about things you have no experience, and when confronted about it you don't even man up and admit you're wrong.

Plat is churnable, upgrade or not. I'll bet you 50k (putting my miles where my mouth is) that Bubbles will get a signup bonus next time he applies for the plat (as long as there are no issues with the link he's using and his existing plat is closed for >30 days).

+1,000,000.  This seems to be a recurring theme.

At any rate I have gotten a Plat bonus for a churn after an upgrade from gold.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

Heck, let's try it on for size:

I apologize I stated something from my own experience in fact-like fashion which turned out to be incorrect. That's what's so great about a collaborative sharing experience on forums - you can mold and adapt your practices and knowledge by learning of the practices and knowledge of others.

Thanks for being a part of that learning effort.

(This didn't happen to me personally, but I was informed throughout.)

So much for intellectual honesty...

I'm not going to get into an argument with you about what constitutes my own experience.

Move on.

If you had a logical argument to make I'm sure you would. You've proven my point here, at least as far as I'm concerned.

I'm going to take your advice and move on, go ahead, have the last word.

Thank you all. I really do not want to open a new c/c at this time as I just opened quite a few.

I see Amex has a transfer promotion of 25% bonus for MR->Starwood transfer so my 41,250 MR points would transfer into 18,315 SPG points. I have an SPG card, is this worth it?

It's either that, or transfer to some airline that flies domestic like Delta or JetBlue

Even with that that promo, the SPG xfer is sub-par.

If you're looking to fly domestically, and you live in DL hub, I'd go DL. They're also running a 30% rebate promo now.

Thank you. I live in New York so Delta would work but they do charge for luggage while JetBlue does not which is why I'm trying to decide between those 2.

A valid concern as that would tack on no less than $50 to a DL round trip, unless you have status with them.

Also worth considering are the contrasting destinations to which each fly.

IMHO you should consider transferring to BA Avios if you have any expectation of doing some short-haul flights. (See http://www.dansdeals.com/archives/17453) Amex also has a 30% bonus now on transfers to BA.
