Anyone have any idea why/if this Pilot is wearing Tzitzis?

So my sister flew yesterday on Flight 897 from DTW to JFK and the person in front of her on the Passenger Boarding Bridge (Jetway) looked like he was wearing some form of Tzitzis (see the picture) - and he looked like the pilot! I'm just so curious about this. Does anyone have any ideas? Any way to find out who the pilot was on this flight?
