Does closing the acccount after 2 monthhs affect the offer or your credit score? If yes, can you downgrade it to a free student checking account?

your credit report does not deduct points for closing an account, but it may no longer be considered a current account in good standing. Additionally it will affect your utilization ratio.

Do current accounts in good standing add points to your score? If they do is it just +1 and -1 or do i lose out?

In top left corner you should see "promotion disclosure" click on it and you will see terms of offer.
And make sure that in the offer code box you put CYCD

was reading on other forums tht it can take up to 5 months till the points post to ur TY account, 5x$30=$150 in costs plus the chance of being 1099ed

I thought the 1099 was a sure thing? It says so right there in the fine print on the offer page that you will get 1099ed

link goes straight to regular account (25) not citigold (50). better use the OP's link and change the code to CYCD

as per citis website you will get first two months free and afterwards 30/month so 30*3(max)+2 free=5months/50,000 ty points for $90 bargain
