Yeah Journeys 4 is hotly debated. Aside from a couple songs, I feel it to be a disappointment (for Abie).

I'm talking Lev Venefesh 2; #1 is solid. #2 is absolutely generic and forgetful. Like I need to remind myself occasionally that it exists.

I was talking about number 2. I strongly disagree with you. There are timeless masterpieces on that album.

My favorites include U'vashofer Gadol (my favorite rendition of u'nesana tokef - I sing it to myself by davining on yomim noraim), Adon Olam, Areshes Sefoseinu, and Nodeh Lecha.

Interestingly, Abie made another version of that song, in which he adds paragraphs about Telz Chicago rosh yeshiva Rav Chaim Schmelczer zt"l. I believe it was paid for by Yisroel Zev Rechnitz. It's available on YouTube I think.

Lipa is actually Rav Chaim Schmelczer's nephew... but no, it was sung by Abie IIRC.

I think the collaborators improved the album. The actors were the same as the first time. Abie, Rabbi Shmuel Yaakov Klein (Dr. Middos), Blaustein, Moddel, and Goldreich. The script was worked on by Etka Gittel Schwartz, one of the best fiction writers in the Jewish world today. Production was done by Shimmy Shtauber, who IMO, is the best today for real-life sounding productions.

I think the production is much more modern than the Golden Crown, but still with the same unmistakable Abie allure.

I wasn't specifically referring to TLT which as I wrote my kids love, but overall the different collaborators gave a different team to various albums which is a matter of personal preference. The CHANGE is unmistakable.

I think that most kids who are growing up today won't pick up on the 25-year gap in production, unless they are told. Same thing BTW for MMM4.
