Mail merge from Excel to Microsoft Word
« on: October 25, 2020, 01:07:03 AM »
I'm having an issue when merging addresses from Excel to Microsoft Word. A zip codes that starts with the number 0 will not show up on the mail merge. For example of 08701 will show up as 8701.
In the Excel sheet I tried to right-click the table and click on zip code but it did not help me

Change the data type for that column to general or text and not number.

Or put an apostrophe before the zip code (in excel) to force it to format as text
Workflowy. You won't know what you're missing until you try it.

Not if you are pasting

Not if you are pasting
Then you could sort, add a formula column that concats apostrophe with the value in the column, copy and paste values back to the original column.
Or format it as text and hope it doesn't get switched back but in my experiences sometimes it does and then you have to re-add all the zeroes
Workflowy. You won't know what you're missing until you try it.

Feel to post somewhere else but after using Mail Merge a website that will split the document for you to individual documents is:

I am trying to do a mail merge, I am using "custom" size for envelopes. On the preview everything looks good and centered but when I actually print th envelopes the addresses are coming out towards the left. Please help. Thanks!

I've had that and it might be your printer. It's not so scientific but what I've done is moved the text box with the address over a little bit to compensate. Test with one and make sure it's good before printing all of them.

I don’t specifically have an answer for you, but keep in mind that your printer might also have various settings as to what kind of paper is loaded into the printer so be sure the dimensions on the computer match what the printer thinks it’s printing
When I print 4X6 pictures I make sure the computer knows the size and gloss settings as well as the printer
nothings impossible- the word itself says Im possible
