Southwest Consumer Rule of 1 Card
« on: January 20, 2021, 08:05:32 PM »
Very sorry if these is already a thread for this, looked through the old SW 50k signups.

I have applied for multiple southwest cards in the past as a consumer and was granted them. After looking at the DD website I noticed that there was a clause that you can only have one branded southwest consumer card at a time.

Unfortunately I did not realize and did a three application for 2 southwest cards and a the Marriott. I was denied all three applications.

Good News: was able to call the reconsideration line and got a southwest card pushed through. They actually told me that I can’t have 2 branded cards that are similar (ie 2 SW) and that I could potentially have the Marriott card reconsidered. I took a chance and told them I didn’t want that and if they could try to reconsider the other southwest card. It was definitely my lucky day and they approved 2 SW cards for me.

I was curious if anyone had a similar experience? I keep reading about the rule and was hoping it wasn’t a steadfast one because I wanted to do the same thing for my wife.

Thanks in advance!

That's the first report I've seen of this.

Did you actually receive both cards? My fear is you’re gonna trip up some review and they’re going to close one of them.

Already received both and they are both activated.
