I think a lot of school closures in the US are on a very local level. I don't know that European countries saying they are keeping schools open is any different than Trump saying we're keeping schools open. It's possible there are no closures in the whole Europe, I just haven't seen anything on the subject other than statements from heads of state.

I think a lot of school closures in the US are on a very local level.

But many of these localities have the largest school population. Chicago also never opened yet for in person learning. So looking at the CNN map gives a totally false impression. Most big cities, if not all, have not had their schools reopen. Besides for FL cities ;).

Again, those are local decisions, not US policy. I don't know that things are any different in Europe. If anyone has data on that, please post it.

*Israel closed schools during their spike. That's the only data I have.

This discussion seems to be ignoring the fact that in many, many places students are remote only because the parents chose that option. In NYC nearly half of students opted for 100% remote.

A lot of that is due to fearmongering by government and union officials.
I wonder what people who type "u" instead of "you" do with all their free time.

I didn't say it was US policy, just a mentality in many many places across the USA.

That's a start :).

To me Israel's behavior to the chareidi community has been the same or worse than New York's. I understand that the school closures may have been countrywide but there could very well be hidden motivations... Who knows? (Shrug 🤷‍♀️)

Exactly. One of my employees said they would have loved to opt in for in person learning every day of the week but they were very strongly pushed to opt into remote and they're always complaining about it.

Sorry, but you just pulled that out from where the sun don't shine. People have a variety of reasons for choosing remote learning.

Oh come on, I didn't say everyone, but the fact is government and union officials are fighting tooth and nail to keep schools closed and it's propped up by the media.

You're assumption that schools in Europe will be closed just like schools in the US was pulled out from where the sun don't shine.

I didn't assume that at all. I asked for data. All I said was I'm assuming nothing from a country-wide policy.

What does that have to do with people opting for remote learning?

I havenít been following closely but I believe Germany and Ireland are keeping schools open while shutting down most of everything else. I think France & Italy are closing schools too.

You're the one making the claim that schools are really closed, the onus is on you to bring the evidence.

I've been listening to the media in the NYC area for a long time, if I didn't know otherwise I'd think it's really dangerous for schools to be open and the ones who are opening schools have blood on their hands.
