Yup, this election isn't anywhere near as consequential as the last one.

I stand corrected.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

Although with the D plan to pack the court, this may be more important. IMO the first job for the Rs after the election is a constitutional amendment requiring the SC to have 9 seats.

Unless you believe a D Trifecta will pack the court. (I don’t).
I think some may try but I don't think they will be successful. There is a reason why Biden avoided the question a few million times.

Maybe it's because he knows an honest answer would mean he loses the election.

Bidens strategy is not to take a position until he’s forced to. It risks bringing republicans out. He has no reason to assume any risk when he’s winning by large margins. Better sit on the sidelines and watch Trump implode.

I think there are enough democrats that will oppose packing the court though. It’s a dangerous slope for respect towards the separation of powers. They can pass anything they need (healthcare/gays/abortion) in legislation and the court will be afraid of knocking it down.

Umm you do realize that requires 3/4 of the states to ratify it? Never happening

What was that "you ain't black" quote?
I stupid remark without thinking that he apologized for.
Was it Biden that took out a full page ad to give innocent black kids the chair and then refused to apologize?
Only on DDF does 24/6 mean 24/5/half/half

Agreed. There was no reason for I'm to take a stand for or against something polarizing like that. He stood to gain nothing and lose no matter what his answer.

I agree that it is unlikely to actually happen.

There really is no reason every state shouldn't ratify it unless they want to pack the court.

You should look up the dictionary definition for gullible. That's what makes politicians thrive.
And discussions thrive when we respond to the thoughts and ideas that others express, rather than attacking their personal characteristics.

They did miss some things in the original constitution, although there weren't many things they missed. That's why they put in a mechanism to amend the constitution. If this doesn't call for an amendment, I'm not sure what does.

Yup. There is very little that will undermine the constitution more than packing the court.

My mind is getting numb reading this thread, and I haven't and won't read the posts since this one. But this is disingenuous at best. If that was Biden's sole racist quip, you'd have a point. But he has a 40 year career which includes friendships with KKK members, promoting criminal justice policies which have set back the African American communities decades, fighting to preserve racist policies (as detailed by his running mate in the primaries), and racial fear mongering like, "they're gonna put ya'll back in chains" about the most straight laced politician imaginable in Mitt Romney.

I did not envision myself ever voting for a man as vile as Trump. But the game to pretend Biden isn't a lying, old school racist career politician merely playing up his "every-man" charm is going to lead to many like me voting against him out of pure revolted spite.

I could believe the good old boy racist in him. But I also believe he understands that was wrong unlike Trump who IMHO is a classic practicing good old boy racist.

So where are his apologies? Where is the culpability? His comment about Romney was in 2012

I was talking about the recent "ain't black enough" comment. Not familiar with the Romney comment.

Hours later, Biden expressed regret for the remarks, calling them "really unfortunate" and saying he "shouldn't have been such a wise guy."

To recap:
You said a racist comment was just 1 clip which he apologized for. I countered with decades of problematic talk and actions, you answered that was in the past.

I ask what indication has there been that he has changed, and point out one awful example was as recent as 2012, and your answer is that A) you aren't aware of that awful example and B) you were only referring to the latest example. Which basically undermines your argument.

A) you realize what an indictment on the media that is, that someone as caught up on politics as you doesn't know about an insane racial fear mongering lie from a presidential candidate?
B) that's an extremely dishonest way of conducting a discussion.
