Deferment does not automatically equal draft dodging.
Dodging the point here.

You did imply, anyone that dodged Vietnam war can never be brave...

Because leopards don't change their spots and Trump proved it to you.

no but if he wins tonight then maybe we will have Jared in 2024

I think a Jewish president is bad for Jewish interests (better a non-Jew who respects Jewish causes/values, e.g. Trump), but I still prefer someone of Jared's stature over someone like Eric Trump.

Not necessarily the right thread for this, but while we're on the topic, would you prefer Jared or Ivanka on a future presidential ballot? (and by prefer I mean you'd prefer to vote for them as a candidate, rather than preferring them as a candidate to vote against).

If those are our two options, it's time to find another place to live.

I don't know Jared too much, but I don't think he's president material. Doesn't have a personality for leadership from what I've seen.

i completely agree that it would not be good
i said it more because i imagine after 8 years in the white house trump would want to keep things in the family to keep things going in the same direction

Because leopards don't change their spots and Trump proved it to you.
Now you are cherry picking and changing the context.
Logic is pretty simple. A leopard doesn't change his spots. His current bullying actions proves this out.
His current bullying actions proves this leopard did not change his spots.

Is there a question you want to ask me like if someone doesn't serve for religious reasons are they a draft dodging coward?  ;)

I am trying to stay mellow today but you are making it hard.
Only on DDF does 24/6 mean 24/5/half/half

Hahahaha!

Now you add words like "
this leopard did not change his spots.
The king of the pivot has returned!

You said and I quote

"this" refers to the idiom you said in the previous sentence. Meaning it applies to everyone.

Now you want to go ahead and add you are ONLY talking about
this leopard
be my guest! Just please don't try and fool anyone, that is NOT what you said originally.

The Jewish spin in full force.  :P
The leopard is Trump. This points to the leopard.
A leopard is singular.
Now is there a question you want to ask but are afraid to?

The leopard is Trump. This points to the leopard.
Now is there a question you want to ask but are afraid to?
Sure sure, change your meaning, add words like this, it's all good.

I literally have no other direct questions.

But if there was ever a day for popcorn I'd think election day is way up there.

Hopefully a healthy helping of crow as well ;)

Maybe we should segway into whether Vietnam was worth fighting and if those who dodged the draft and protested at home are heroes with a 2020 hindsight?

So you are going to tell me what "my" meaning was?
Should I tell you what "your" meaning of the Torah is?
Maybe we should segway into whether Vietnam was worth fighting and if those who dodged the draft and protested at home are heroes with a 2020 hindsight?
...and if the religious excuse was valid?

I'm telling you how English works.

I said you are free to add words to what you said, like this leopard, I have no problem with that.

Explaining what you meant to say is very important and I commend you for clarifying and amending your previous statements.

Honestly, very big of you to do that, thank you.

I have 0 opinion on this. If there was a draft today, I don't think orthodox Jews can use halcha as a way out, but I haven't looked into it much, I don't know about other religions.

I assume we're talking after weeks of court cases arguing over the 50 voters in fl/pa/mi/etc that ultimately decide the election - and that Trump has actually conceded...

Prior to him leaving office:

Probable:
- Pardons as many of his cronies as possible
- Finds ways to make it harder for Biden to undo some of his foreign policy moves - vis-a-vis Israel, Iran and China
- Tries to push through more confirmations of conservative judges as a lame duck

Plausible, but Highly Unlikely:
- Find a way to get Roe v. Wade overturned by SCOTUS before Biden gets a chance to pack the court.
- Take another shot at IRAN or China - diplomatically or militarily

After he leaves office:
Probable:
- Run for NYC Mayor in 21' or Governor in 22'
- I don't seem him running in 24' - He'l be 78 years old, and who knows where the country will be, but hey, he's trump.
- Spends most of his time in Florida

Less Likely:
- Goes to Jail
- Leaves the country permanently - to avoid prosecution or otherwise.

What about the college excuse? Trump used it 4 times, Biden used it 5 - https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/factcheck/2020/09/16/fact-check-biden-received-multiple-draft-deferments-vietnam/5809482002/

While there are many areas where Trump and Biden are different, they're both equal when it comes to draft dodging.

College excuse was totally abused.
I have no problem if you feel Biden was a draft dodger. The "but officer" argument is always a losing one.
