How Long Did It Take You To Vote? (in-person on November 3rd)
« on: November 03, 2020, 07:44:30 AM »
Took me 30 minutes in Crown Heights. When I arrived just past 6:00am there was a long line (100+ people) waiting. The place was unorganized with multiple election workers giving conflicting instructions (one of these election workers sent 30 people into another entrance when there was no indoor-queue for them to join).

Took me approx 30m start to finish. What about you?

I thought you already voted. You were missing from DDF for about a month.

Source? I hope you're kidding/trolling.

I hope not. I was indoors with like 100+ masked people, not completely socially distant (6 feet apart all the time) for over 20m. I'd like to exercise my right/civic duty to vote, but not at the expense of a COVID infection.

That article is clearly designed to scare voters away from showing up in person. They add the crucial information the CDC writes at the end of the article as though it was an afterthought, when it is presented by the CDC as part of the instructions.

CDC:
"Voters have the right to vote, regardless of whether they are sick or in quarantine.
Voters who are sick or in quarantine should take steps to protect poll workers and other voters. This includes wearing a mask, staying at least 6 feet away from others, and washing your hands or using hand sanitizer before and after voting. You should also let poll workers know that you are sick or in quarantine when you arrive at the polling location. Check with local authorities for any additional guidance."

Welcome to 2020. FOX has the same news, with less spin on fear, and more on Covid ain't all that. Point is, this is how the CDC guidance is being pushed from all sides.

DW just did it at about 10am with no lines or waiting. Anyone who is able to go during work hours should go during work hours.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

What name did you use?

"Abagnale used a number of aliases — he reportedly used 8 identities, basically variations such as Frank Adams, Dr. Frank Conners, Frank Williams, Robert Black, Robert Conrad and Robert Monjo"

I am not in Chicago.

Our Mayor was outside the polling place. He wanted my vote for home rule. I ask why should I vote for that. He explained we have some apartments going section 8. Then he says I don't want to say this to loud. We have to keep certain people out.
Who comes to mind?  :)

The visibly Jewish people  :P

Would he say the same thing if the people that might move in would be Ben Carson, Herman Cain, or Clarence Thomas?

Great line, but one technicality. "Encourages" is not accurate IMO.

<5 minutes - no more than usual. Some neighbors who went when the polls opened said there was a line, but it was <20 minutes.

What does it mean when they put this on their site:

"Voters have the right to vote, regardless of whether they are sick or in quarantine.

Voters who are sick or in quarantine should take steps to protect poll workers and other voters. This includes wearing a mask, staying at least 6 feet away from others, and washing your hands or using hand sanitizer before and after voting. You should also let poll workers know that you are sick or in quarantine when you arrive at the polling location. Check with local authorities for any additional guidance."

(Sounds encouraging to me, I would have assumed they'd say to mail in or have someone drop off a ballot for them...)
