Pfizer made a decision to develop a vaccine with the free market , the way it should be, they didn't take a penny from the us government, the us government said they'll pit in a big order once developed, they didn't reject it why should they it's a PO like any other customer would order, that's the 2 sides of the story I don't see a argument here accept who gets credit

When companies invest in research they are taking a risk. One aspect of that risk is that someone else might come up with a better option, which would mean that no one buys their product. By committing to buy $2Billion of their vaccine (regardless of what else comes out) Trump (through project Warp Speed) removed that risk and allowed Pfizer to invest in a way that they may not have otherwise have been able to justify.

Anyone who denies that Trump deserves credit for the speed that the vaccine was developed is suffering from TDS.

With or without the US contract they were going forward with this. They had European contracts also. Not taking any US funds says it all.
Only on DDF does 24/6 mean 24/5/half/half

So a $2 billion guarantee doesn't talk to anyone? Do you have a bridge to sell?

This whole discussion is silly. Regardless of the specific details with Pfizer, Operation Warp Speed is something this administration should get credit for. But let's be real - do we really think any admin wouldn't put their whole weight behind pushing for speedy vaccine development/production/distribution? The best you can probably say is that it might have been more aggressive re: the FDA than another hypothetical admin, and even that is questionable. The fact that it has been politicized in both directions, and would have been no matter the admin, is also a given. So what are we talking about already?

No it wasn't a two billion guarantee. Tell a football player if he wins the super bowl he gets 2 billion.  ::)
Now put down the kool-aid and use some common sense.
Talk up the other vaccine as that has a argument for Trump getting the credit.

I didn't say Trump gets the full credit. But you can't say that he doesn't get some credit for dangling a $2 billion dollar guarantee that their vaccines will be bought.

How much you think this vaccine is going to sell for? A below market buy order is not a big incentive.

$20 a dose is not that out of range.

Regardless, a guaranteed purchase order even if you are not the most competitive offer is worth more than it is after approval. They were given a free put option in this futures contract. That's valuable.
