This is all may be true for a small business. In the corporate world, you get paid for the skill you bring, not for the level of criticality.
For example, C level suite execs are the highest paid and yet they go on weeks/months long vacations all the time.
I never stated that you don’t get paid for skill. You pay employees for skill but you also pay a premium for someone that is critical to the business. If someone has both attributes they get paid more than the person that is just skilled.
Now, if C level execs in a large corporation can leave without an issue does not mean that lower level workers (read >95% of employees) in small, mid, or large companies can leave for 3 weeks and not be missed. Of course it depends on the company and role, but I already said that earlier and not clear that you argue with that.
