It won't matter to you MAGA nuts but lets have the facts!!!

Good evening.

Just moments ago, I spoke with George W. Bush and congratulated him on becoming the 43rd president of the United States. And I promised him that I wouldn't call him back this time. I offered to meet with him as soon as possible so that we can start to heal the divisions of the campaign and the contest through which we've just passed.

Almost a century and a half ago, Senator Stephen Douglas told Abraham Lincoln, who had just defeated him for the presidency, "Partisan feeling must yield to patriotism. I'm with you, Mr. President, and God bless you." Well, in that same spirit, I say to President-elect Bush that what remains of partisan rancor must now be put aside, and may God bless his stewardship of this country. Neither he nor I anticipated this long and difficult road. Certainly neither of us wanted it to happen. Yet it came, and now it has ended, resolved, as it must be resolved, through the honored institutions of our democracy.

Over the library of one of our great law schools is inscribed the motto, "Not under man but under God and law." That's the ruling principle of American freedom, the source of our democratic liberties. I've tried to make it my guide throughout this contest, as it has guided America's deliberations of all the complex issues of the past five weeks.

Now the U.S. Supreme Court has spoken. Let there be no doubt, while I strongly disagree with the court's decision, I accept it. I accept the finality of this outcome which will be ratified next Monday in the Electoral College. And tonight, for the sake of our unity as a people and the strength of our democracy, I offer my concession. I also accept my responsibility, which I will discharge unconditionally, to honor the new President-elect and do everything possible to help him bring Americans together in fulfillment of the great vision that our Declaration of Independence defines and that our Constitution affirms and defends.

Let me say how grateful I am to all those who supported me and supported the cause for which we have fought. Tipper and I feel a deep gratitude to Joe and Hadassah Lieberman, who brought passion and high purpose to our partnership and opened new doors, not just for our campaign but for our country.

This has been an extraordinary election. But in one of God's unforeseen paths, this belatedly broken impasse can point us all to a new common ground, for its very closeness can serve to remind us that we are one people with a shared history and a shared destiny. Indeed, that history gives us many examples of contests as hotly debated, as fiercely fought, with their own challenges to the popular will. Other disputes have dragged on for weeks before reaching resolution. And each time, both the victor and the vanquished have accepted the result peacefully and in a spirit of reconciliation.

So let it be with us.

I know that many of my supporters are disappointed. I am too. But our disappointment must be overcome by our love of country.

And I say to our fellow members of the world community, let no one see this contest as a sign of American weakness. The strength of American democracy is shown most clearly through the difficulties it can overcome. Some have expressed concern that the unusual nature of this election might hamper the next president in the conduct of his office. I do not believe it need be so.

President-elect Bush inherits a nation whose citizens will be ready to assist him in the conduct of his large responsibilities. I, personally, will be at his disposal, and I call on all Americans -- I particularly urge all who stood with us -- to unite behind our next president. This is America. Just as we fight hard when the stakes are high, we close ranks and come together when the contest is done. And while there will be time enough to debate our continuing differences, now is the time to recognize that that which unites us is greater than that which divides us. While we yet hold and do not yield our opposing beliefs, there is a higher duty than the one we owe to political party. This is America and we put country before party; we will stand together behind our new president.

As for what I'll do next, I don't know the answer to that one yet. Like many of you, I'm looking forward to spending the holidays with family and old friends. I know I'll spend time in Tennessee and mend some fences, literally and figuratively.

Some have asked whether I have any regrets, and I do have one regret: that I didn't get the chance to stay and fight for the American people over the next four years, especially for those who need burdens lifted and barriers removed, especially for those who feel their voices have not been heard. I heard you. And I will not forget.

I've seen America in this campaign, and I like what I see. It's worth fighting for and that's a fight I'll never stop. As for the battle that ends tonight, I do believe, as my father once said, that "No matter how hard the loss, defeat might serve as well as victory to shape the soul and let the glory out."

So for me this campaign ends as it began: with the love of Tipper and our family; with faith in God and in the country I have been so proud to serve, from Vietnam to the vice presidency; and with gratitude to our truly tireless campaign staff and volunteers, including all those who worked so hard in Florida for the last 36 days.

Now the political struggle is over and we turn again to the unending struggle for the common good of all Americans and for those multitudes around the world who look to us for leadership in the cause of freedom.

In the words of our great hymn, "America, America": "Let us crown thy good with brotherhood, from sea to shining sea."

And now, my friends, in a phrase I once addressed to others: it's time for me to go.

Influenced not stolen.
The point being MAGA is trying to make is Gore/HRC both said their elections were stolen so why harp on Trump. Those are lies. Gore/HRC not only never said either election was stolen but accepted the results. Did they have gripes, sure. That is not even on the same planet as Trump claiming actual votes were stolen and which the MAGA nutcases believe.

Thank you so very much for being here. I love you all, too. Last night I congratulated Donald Trump and offered to work with him on behalf of our country.

I hope that he will be a successful president for all Americans. This is not the outcome we wanted or we worked so hard for, and I’m sorry we did not win this election for the values we share and the vision we hold for our country.

But I feel pride and gratitude for this wonderful campaign that we built together. This vast, diverse, creative, unruly, energized campaign. You represent the best of America, and being your candidate has been one of the greatest honors of my life.

I know how disappointed you feel, because I feel it too. And so do tens of millions of Americans who invested their hopes and dreams in this effort. This is painful, and it will be for a long time. But I want you to remember this.

Our campaign was never about one person, or even one election. It was about the country we love and building an America that is hopeful, inclusive, and big-hearted. We have seen that our nation is more deeply divided than we thought. But I still believe in America, and I always will. And if you do, then we must accept this result and then look to the future. Donald Trump is going to be our president. We owe him an open mind and the chance to lead. Our constitutional democracy enshrines the peaceful transfer of power.

We don’t just respect that. We cherish it. It also enshrines the rule of law; the principle we are all equal in rights and dignity; freedom of worship and expression. We respect and cherish these values, too, and we must defend them.

Let me add: Our constitutional democracy demands our participation, not just every four years, but all the time. So let’s do all we can to keep advancing the causes and values we all hold dear. Making our economy work for everyone, not just those at the top, protecting our country and protecting our planet.

And breaking down all the barriers that hold any American back from achieving their dreams. We spent a year and a half bringing together millions of people from every corner of our country to say with one voice that we believe that the American dream is big enough for everyone.

For people of all races, and religions, for men and women, for immigrants, for LGBT people, and people with disabilities. For everyone.

I am so grateful to stand with all of you. I want to thank Tim Kaine and Anne Holton for being our partners on this journey.

It has been a joy get to go know them better and gives me great hope and comfort to know that Tim will remain on the front lines of our democracy representing Virginia in the Senate.

To Barack and Michelle Obama, our country owes you an enormous debt of gratitude.

We thank you for your graceful, determined leadership that has meant so much to so many Americans and people across the world. And to Bill and Chelsea, Mark, Charlotte, Aidan, our brothers and our entire family, my love for you means more than I can ever express.

You crisscrossed this country, even 4-month-old Aidan, who traveled with his mom. I will always be grateful to the talented, dedicated men and women at our headquarters in Brooklyn and across our country.

You poured your hearts into this campaign. To some of you who are veterans, it was a campaign after you had done other campaigns. Some of you, it was your first campaign. I want each of you to know that you were the best campaign anybody could have ever expected or wanted.

This loss hurts, but please never stop believing that fighting for what’s right is worth it.

Finally, finally, I am so grateful for our country and for all it has given to me.

I count my blessings every single day that I am an American, and I still believe, as deeply as I ever have, that if we stand together and work together with respect for our differences, strengthen our convictions, and love for this nation, our best days are still ahead of us.

Because, you know, I believe we are stronger together and we will go forward together. And you should never, ever regret fighting for that. You know, scripture tells us, let us not grow weary of doing good, for in good season we shall reap. My friends, let us have faith in each other, let us not grow weary and lose heart, for there are more seasons to come and there is more work to do.

@CountValentine you don't need to convince us that Trump isn't eloquent, that sticking to absolute truth and accuracy isn't his strong point, or any of his other shortcomings.

Everyone here is aware of that. Yet we see the Bolshevik alternative as an existential threat (in addition to the fact that we lived through 4 years of Trump, and it wasn't the end of the world or of Democracy, with some actual good outcomes as a bonus).

FOX viewership IIRC tops the next three combined.
So, if MSM is trying to influence the election then at least in cable TV the R's have a big edge.
You have to look at both sides and not just the one that fits your narrative.
Good to know, but still too many trying to prop her up. We need more Mike Pence's around here.

It's ludicrous to draw any kind of equivalency between conservative media influence and MSM, and everybody knows this.

1) The "at least in cable TV" qualifier completely defeats the point he's attempting. According to Pew, 86% of Americans, often or sometimes get their news from the internet.
2) Out of the 25 top visited news sites in the US (which is as far as the list I came across goes), foxnews.com is the only one on the list that leans to the right. They are at 269M monthly views, to nytimes.com's 503M views.
3) His recollection is wrong. Fox cable TV viewership slightly edges out the next two networks combined (MSNBC and CNN), not three.
4) How can one possibly argue for a conservative edge in cable TV while simultaneously pointing out (wrongly) that they only edge out the next three networks. Surely he's aware that there are more than four major cable TV news networks?

This is aside from the vast internet complex and social media giants that regularly elevate MSM content (other than Fox content, which is why it's not accurate to label Fox MSM despite their viewership numbers), while suppressing alternative media sources even when their engagement is high. Sites like Google News, MSN, Yahoo....

Just googling news for "Trump" or "Harris" and noting the narrative contrast in the results tells you all you need to know about the topic. Moreover, they will often elevate irrelevant, low-engagement news sources that fit the left's MSM narrative. What's Spectrum News NY1, The Daily Beast, and Al Jazeera doing there on the first page of results while other outlets that trounce them by visits and engagement are always ignored?

And this still doesn't account for app usage - Google News and MSN especially - who feed their version of the news straight onto the homescreens of most Americans' devices. By website visits alone, MSN is #4 and Google News is #8. When counting in the app feeds, such as the default start page on every PC, the default page on the edge browser, and the news feed on android devices, they probably surpass the other 23 top sites combined. Consider the mind-numbing influence they wield on most low-information tech users, whether they consciously take in the news from their feeds or not.


Regarding the 'stolen' 2020 election, while I wouldn't use the term 'stolen' around an election, considering the above stats about who controls the info that the average American takes in and the narrative in the minds of most Americans who are not politically savvy to think for themselves, no conservative observer should be ashamed of defending claims of an unfair election.

Just the plain vanilla everyday bias - suppression of stories harmful to Dems and stories positive to the GOP, and waxing poetic about the Dem candidate while demonizing the Republican - is enough to skew an election towards the Dems, even if we leave out the specific malfeasance of the 2020 election (such as the covid basement campaign made possible by the MSM, the Hunter laptop disinformation and suppression, Russiagate, Twitter ban, shadow-banning and throttling conservative talking points on Twitter, YT and other SM sites, fake 'fact checking' sites widely cited by the MSM, scandalous stories from 'anonymous sources' who are later outed as random consultants, blaming Covid deaths on Trump all day and Covid death tickers permanently 'stickied' onto MSM screens up until the day Biden was elected, protests praised and amplified as civil unrest in response to Trump [and then later covered up when the violence was found to be harmful for the Biden campaign], at the same time, conservatives were super-spreaders if they gathered in small numbers, and on and on and on.....)

Now, whether this 'unfair election' line of argument is worth elevating politically is another story. Especially in this environment of continued lopsided MSM coverage and narrative-writing, it is most definitely a stupid move.
