What happens if the court declares Trump the winner?
« on: November 07, 2020, 11:51:23 PM »
One of trump’s kids pointed out on Twitter that there are 70 million ticked off people and no cites are burning. That being said, if trump is declared winner, I think the reaction from the Democrats would be crazy.  I’m pretty sure that it would make the summer riots look as calm as a Joe Biden rally

The courts have no authority to declare a winner. At most they can force recounting ballots and/or excluding/including certain ballots.

The winner is decided only by having more votes than the loser.

and each state legislature is free to determine the method it will use to select its own electors.

Currently, all states select electors through a popular vote (although how that vote works can differ), but that was not always the case throughout American history. In many states, the state legislature selected electors, a practice which was common until the mid-1800s.

::) And if they invalidate or otherwise change things enough for Trump to win?
