Most people definitely followed the mandates.
More than 80% of infections were in the Chareidi and Arab sectors. It’s common knowledge that the rate of compliance was far lower among those groups. More than some other places? Sure. But compliance was a far cry from the 85%-95% necessary to significantly impact widespread infection.
Sure enough, 80% of infections occurred in the 20% of society that was not as vigilant about mask wearing. And spare me the indignation. I’ve seen the photos of Vizhnitz etc. and have plenty of family there as well. While you might be able to point to some subgroups that were careful, there were plenty that completely disregarded the mandates (except on the streets because they didn’t want to be fined).
Who cares if the virus is widespread, if the mask works it should work regardless how many people have it.
That’s not how science works.
