he is only arriving in israel july27 any other sugestion he has now a reservation for around 600$

 about all they can do is work it out to do everything theyd need a car for in as few days as possible and to return it early. This is Peak Peak time and thusly why the rates are High.

 So if they wil be staying in a city for say the 1st few days , dont get a car between the streets being parking lots and having to pay to park everywhere today, its alot cheaper to use Taxis

IS that $600 including tax an insurance?  That would be a decent rate for high season for a mazda 3 and cheaper then taking for a month.

I'm looking to rent a hyundai accent, pickup and return in yerushalayim for july 25-29. I'm 24, I have mastercard world, and a valid tourist visa. The cheapest i got through a travel agent was $35/day including liability. Any ideas how to get a better price?

I believe, with the right meditation I can get a mazda 3 for $40/day assuming you are a tourist + wmc.

I found (and was confirmed by senior rental agents overthere), that cars below mazda 3 level, burn more gas then the mazda 3 and higher classes.

I have a whole toire on it, but its not relevant now.

 usually anything less then 3 days will be very expensive

Both now, and 3 years ago, when I asked for a mazda3 at the airport, they said they don't have any. I was basically take what we have or leave it!

I was not talking about specifically a mazda 3, but rather this level.

The price i quoted isn't a request for an upgrade, but, what you reserve.

If they dont have it, they will have to give you something nicer.

 why would you expect Israel to be any different then any other rental location on Earth, = you cant reserve a particular car say a Chevy Implala but only the Class type in this case a Full size car .

so with the Mazda3 its considered a Cat D car so they can give you any car that is in that Cat. off hand there are Subarus and Renaults that are also in the same class as the Mazda3

 that said you can always try and switch the car say in Jerusalem but they too might not have any and be preparred to waste alot of your time if you chose to do so.

 they will only have to give something nicer if they have no Cat D cars whatsoever, otherwise you will either take whatever Cat D car they have or no car at all

I dont want anyone to think they can ask for a Mazda3 and if they only have Renaults that are also a D that they can get a higher class car, they wont

I know that. It's just funny that from all the cars in cat D, they never seem to have a mazda3 for me. I tried to switch it in Jerusalem once, but im sure you can guess what happened....

anyone renting in israel should be aware that if you are looking for thee cheapest way even if you are ready to take the smallest car THAT IS NOT THE CHEAPEST WAY TO GO! from experience i can tell you that the compact cars are more expensive in gas! because they such smaller engines (3 cyl not even 4 sometimes) they take much more gas when driving in the city especially yerushalayim which is hills. I made the mistake twice already. The small cars are only good on gas if you are driving on the highway

BTW I took the Hyndai up to Zefat with me , (yea it was heavy carrying it but I managed somehow,LoL)

Upon returning to Avis having used carrentalisrael.com when a cat D was still 42 Shekel a day,(INSTEAD OF THE CURRENT PRICE OF 145 Shekel A DAY), we were greeted by a friendly woman at 11 pm, who barely looked at the vehicle, and didn't look for scratches, even though it was a new vehicle, and went in to her office, and promptly brought me out my reciept, without me having to step foot in there. As soon as I finished bringing my luggage over to the front of the building, the shuttle arrived, without any other passengers, and promptly drove us (very slowly) to the airport.
