Hi all, I'm looking for a full-size rental for 8 days in February (2/18 - 2/26). I booked a reservation with EuropCar through Expedia for a standard van at $127 for the 8 days.  After reading many of the posts in this forum, I'm a bit nervous about relying on this reservation.  I have the Sapphire preferred world mastercard which apparently can help with CDW insurance.

Anyone have any ideas?  Should I rely on europcar or go a different route?  I'm traveling with a 2 yr old and will need a car seat.  Not sure if that changes much.  Thanks.
Do NOT rely on it at all!!
$259 for a mazda 3
$521 for mazda 5

sorry, im a little slow. so National is really Europcar, and they tend to not honor Hotwire reservations?
so, i need a car for 4 (2 kids) plus a few suitcases from Ben-Gurion for 12 days (Jan 16 8:30am- Jan28 9:00pm); what can you get me? and how much with a gps? also, how much for a simple booster seat?

Yes, i have a sapphire preferred world mastercard with an email notice of coverage in israel, though it does not specify "CDW" (is it supposed to)?

"This letter confirms that your World MasterCard® Card provides MasterRental® coverage. Therefore, vehicles rented with your card are eligible for coverage in Israel. Please note that the coverage is subject to the terms and conditions of the MasterRental® program."

Just curius how much (average) does CDW cost per day in Israel for a mazda 3 class car? And is CDW easier to deal with, and better coverage then WMC? Was reading up on FT and people where saying had a very hard time getting them to pay for damage/down time!

I checked Eldans website to get an idea, a rental for about 2 weeks actually only went up in price about $36 for the rental to add CDW Vs mandatory only! (Could be cause their prices are so expensive anyway....)

If I were to make a reservation say by Avis and using one of the cheap AWD's out there, will I have an issue?

It's included in the non-WMC rate. If you want it just tell the agent you don't want to use WMC.

Keep in mind that the WMC doesn't have a deductible while the CDW from the company has aprox $500 deductible.

Yes. You will need to add insurance at the desk.

I am assuming a "decent car" for an American citizen means an Automatic car.

I would tell you to go with the Hyundai i20.

Smallest Automatic
W/O WMC $215
W/ WMC $173

Hyundai i20 1.4 Engine
W/O WMC $223 Total
W/ WMC  $188 Total

Hyundai Accent 1.6
W/O WMC $232
W/ WMC $197

The cheapest I found by any ligit company was $68. Thanks Hocker, I will continue to use you in the future!
