fayi i just got a quote from avis for the month 750 inc insurance in israel.... when i got the airport i couldn't rent because im black still listed to make a long story short i went to s. sixth and got a monthly rental for 635 everything included . if ny one can give me any help in getting off the vlack list i'd reallly appreciate it please pm me

I'm looking for a 3 day car rental in Yerushalayim (Oct 18 - 20 ). Yirmiyahu area preferably. I'm 23, Israeli, without a MCW. Cheapest deal/ cheapest car, although a free upgrade would be nice.

Also trying to return to the basics here...

I do frequent rentals from the Avis Yirmiyahu branch (despite hating it there), although I'm not wedded to them. How do I know when the great mileage deals for rentals in the US may also apply in Israel. Or is this all a lost cause, and I shouldn't expect any rewards for my Israel rentals?

As far as I know the cheapest rate i see here in Israel is 85 shekel/ $23.61 a day for smallest car from avis' website avis.co.il and NOT choosing the english button ;-). thats with a world mastercard which covers insurance in israel and with a tourist visa. Anybody that knows any better deals feekl free to post 'em!!

BTW the yirmiyahu branch switched to shefa as of last week

The smallest car is NOT always cheaper even if you pay less $$ for the rental. From experience i can tell you that the the small getz or similar use MORE gas then the the midsize when you are driving in yerushalayim. The drain on the engine when you climb the hills uses more gas then the midsize cars . the tiny cars are only good if you are driving on the highway. I learnt my lesson the hard way

word over Succos was say goodbye to the Getz, also seems they are getting the Mutsibushi Lancer now instead of the Mazda3, mine had all of 8 kms on it but I would have grabbed the Mazda3 even with 40k on it over the Lancer, but with what I paid for it I took it

And although I hated the old branch, this one is very efficient and nice. (they said they had the same workers, but I noticed a different manager and I didn't see all of the workers that used to work in the old one)

In general if you book on Avis through the Israeli website avis.co.il as opposed to the US website, many times it is significantly cheaper. I have gotten really good deals like that. It's not always like that but its worth a try
