I took chummus through.
Got pulled aside and was told I wasn't allowed to bring liquids.
Had to throw it out.

Life hack: freeze it.

Life hack: freeze it.
For actual liquids, always. Ice coffee, water bottles etc.
Chummus? Couldn't believe someone can tell me with a straight face that it's a liquid.

In Thailand they wanted to take away our jar of peanut butter, but we asked if we could make sandwiches with it and they said sure.
Made 2 sandwiches, put the PB jar right back in our bag, and continued on our way.

Security theatre at its finest.
Reminds me of time my suitcase was overweight, after a quick "shuffle" they let it pass..

We had the TSA agent pull our bag to the side, he opened it up, goes to the corner while checking back at his screen for where the "contraband" is, picks up a package of wipes, rolls his eyes and put it back.
The xray machine didn't like my containers of frozen meatballs, either.

I had a good one at PTY. This was originally a border control issue and then a security issue...

When arriving in Panama at border control the agent- who looked to be about 16 years of age- first took my passport and assumed it was the hubby's (the pic is bad- I'll admit, but it clearly says Female on it...) and then when he got to the other passport he realized the issue and didn't know how to correct it. I don't remember if they fingerprint or take a pic, but it was something that had to match up with the passport presented. Eventually his supervisor decided to waive us through because he couldn't correct it either.

Fast forward a few days and we're in the airport again to head home. We get to security and they won't let us through- problem being that our passports don't match what was previously in the system- we then showed them that it's a simple mixup- our passports were switched in the system. Of course this agent had to go and get his supervisor, who didn't know what to do either and decided to just waive us through (thankfully). I wonder if it's a permanent switch in their system and what will happen if I travel there again.
What happened this time? Same issue or it was fixed?

When my brother was a teenager he accidentally traveled to Israel with a bb gun in his coat. He didn't realize until after he already left TLV airport.

Oh wow good memory! Totally forgot to include the latest harrowing experience in my new TR!
Was led away by border agents once they scanned my passport at entry. Had to explain the situation as to why the pic and fingerprints in their system didn't match to five different agents at three different desks (there weren't especially surprised at their previous incompetence). After waiting 30 minutes for a supervisor they did a manual system override and stamped my passport. I begged them to change the information so that I don't have this issue every time I enter Panama- the agent said he tried but no guarantees so I'll only known if it worked the next time I attempt entry. I didn't have any issues leaving this time so maybe it was finally cleared up...

Saw this post and I usually don't post much except to sell stuff on here but I had to make an exception.

I'm ashamed to say that after losing my driver's license and attempting to board my flight, my bags had to be searched. I could have declined the search and left, and I certainly would have if I knew just how thorough this search would be. If it wasn't bad enough as the tsa guy calmly pulled out torch after torch, a glass pipe would be the next item set aside. At this point somehow I'm still living a life of freedom, but this search was far from over. I was sure he wouldn't pull the camera out of the ..... ok he pulls the camera completely out of the bag. It was at this point I knew my life was about to change, as there were only 2 items in that bag, a camera, and well.... another bag was in the bag.

What happened next I've debated in my head a thousand times. The TSA had to know the bag of drugs was there, I mean it was a small bag and once the camera was out, that was all that was left. It was the last thing he searched, but unbelievably, he not only didn't arrest me or confiscate my "bag", he pretended he didn't find jr, or maybe he missed it? I think he did me a huge favor, and whatever the reason, I will be forever grateful.

Unfortunately, despite owning my bags, it was too late and I missed my flight. But no one can take away the story, that is forever, at least now it is :)

Don’t think I ever accidentally got a bottle of water (or any “liquid” above 3.4 oz) through by mistake

In 1998 I was flying from YYZ to EWR and someone sent a wedding gift for someone. When they put my bag through the scanner they asked me to open one of the pockets. When they saw the wrapped box they waved me on.
I see that I didn't write what the item was. It was a challah knife.
