Need help! Some collection agency called trident assets reported to my credit score a sprint bill in 2016 that is 12 years old for $250 and chase doesnt want to give me approval cuz of it. How do do I go about disputing? I have not heard a word from this place and they just throw it on my credit report? Also I believe that I didnt have to pay sprint in first place cuz bill was in error...Should I just dispute on report or call this collection agency?
First! Ask the collection agency for a) proof that you owe this bill and b) proof that they are authorized to collect it.
If the bill is over 7 (?) years old, with no renewals in all this time, it is no longer valid.
You can search the internet for sample validation letters and all the info I just gave you.
You may already be able to tell the credit reporting agency that the debt has aged out.
