Most CC points convert to miles at 1:1. SPG at 20k:25k.
For more specifics refer to the points website.

There are 3 major players in the convertible points game. AMEX MR. Chase UR. And SPG.

Thanks for info. I recently saw difference between UR (1:1) and SPG (2:1) regarding United, so just wanted to read up on this.

Southwest charges X points per flight based on the price of the ticket (direct correlation between price and points), whereas BA charges X points based on miles traveling. Is there a thread explaining how airlines value their miles to know the price of an award flight? (sorry for short handing q')

You would have to look for a specific airline thread. Or alliance (star Alliance, OneWorld etc) thread, or destination thread.

I'm not aware of any threads that break that down but info is easily obtained by doing a Google search or by checking the airline website.

Most are destination based (ie AA charges 25k for a saver award in the continental US regardless of destination). Few are distance based (ie BA as you mentioned) and a few are revenue based like Southwest and JetBlue.
