starting a trip from a train-station for a better deal

Does skipping the initial train ride cancel the rest of the itinerary similar to skipping the first leg in a plane-trip?

Any idea where I can search in DDF to find out for sure?

Makes sense they'd cancel a plane itinerary for missing a leg because they're all connected. But I don't think they track train tkts to be sure they're used. At least that's what I'm hoping :-)
