No, though I should probably bookmark that page seeing as how many people ask questions about that. I'm looking for how long after a flight you can still credit the miles to a FF program.

To pay through Paypal or such with a cc, would have fees of around 3%.
If you buy VisaGiftCards in $500 denominations, you can pay your relative with a pile and he can spend them anywhere cc's are accepted.  $5 or $6 fee per 500 = 1-1.2%

That's true if the person cares. But should one not care, as he plans on using it for shopping on food or the like. And does not have to worry about insurance on the cc for the item then I see no wrong with that, but yes in general you borrowed cash pay back cash unless the other person doesn't care or he's clueless and your making a fool out of them.
