I got a call from someone who said he's from the government and told me I'm eligible for a $9800 grant. Is there any thread that can help me find out if this is legit?? Weird stuff

If he said he's from "the government" it's probably not legit. If he said he's from a specific agency call that agency & see if it's true. Did he say he needs your personal info ?

he said he's calling from the United States government in Washington, D.C. I couldn't hear exactly if he said he's from a certain dept.he only aske me for my name and zip code and how I want to receive the $

Doesn't sound very legit. Google the number. If it's a scam you'll see it in the first few results. What's the area code ?

The government sends official mail. They don't call you & tell you to call a different #.

the number WAS 516-554-0002.
He just called me back to tell me that that number is invalid and he started to give me another number to call. I just hung up. It has to b total bs.
The first time he called from an unknown number. Second time from 1800-111-3344. I tried it and got a busy signal.

The 1-800 is definitely a scam. Usually they say $7800 grant. They just want you to send them a few hundred dollars first & then they'll give you the grant. Scam

Not yet but I already wired the $500 processing fee to the government's bank account (which is in a Nicaraguan bank for some odd reason) so the grant money should show up any day now...

They're desperate to give you money . Tell them to mail a check(that way you don't have to give any personal info), she'll probably hang right up. 347 doesn't mean anything.
