LY26 After Shabbos
« on: April 13, 2021, 10:57:15 AM »
ElAl Flt 26 EWR-TLV is scheduled with a 9:50PM departure time on Sat nights in August. Shabbos is over around 8:40PM. I don't see how any Shabbos-observant passengers can make that flight (unless they live in Elizabeth/Hillside). Does ElAl typically change that at some point to make it later? It would be a shame to have to shlep all the way to JFK for LY8

Historically they have operated at these times because technically it did not involve chilul Shabbos even though the preps did and the passengers could not realistically make the flight if they were shomer Shabbos.  With the Rosenberg ownership it will be interesting to see if they do move those flights later in the summer.

It's doable from Manhattan without luggage (and a healthy risk appetite). Elal online check in is 36h prior for Sat night flights.

Yet even if one can arrive on time for the flight AYLOR regarding taking a flight that requires Chilul Shabbos of other Jews in order to operate on Motzoei Shabbos for Jews.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

Indeed, one needs to be cognizant of the timing, and AYLOR.
