Capital One Venture Card
« on: November 19, 2020, 09:05:52 PM »
I had the Venture card for 3 years. Closed it today. I have no other Capital One credit cards and have opened 2 other cards in the last 24 months. I have excellent credit. What are the chances of being approved for the Venture card again right away?

I believe you need to wait 6 months. There is already a CO Venture thread. Try searching or page TimT

I tried searching. Couldn’t find the thread. All Dan said in the main site post was “It can be difficult to get approved for more than 1 Capital One card every 6 months.” I’m not sure if that means from account opening or closure. @TimT can you help?

Thanks. That’s a pretty old thread though...

Citi counts from closing AFAIK. Barclays requires 90 days IIRC

I got a second Venture card (while first was still open) after 6 months of first card being opened.

Just applied for the venture card.  they asked for income verification which I uploaded.  I called the recon number but it didn't go to anyone who could actually approve the card...is there a number like that for capital one?  Otherwise, it looks like I might have to wait a month or more before getting the card if it is approved...any ideas?  Thanks in advance!!

AFAIK Cap1 doesn't have a credit analyst/reconsideration phone number. I ran into this issue myself during my last application (can't remember exactly when that was... but it was some point in the past 9-15 months)

AF on my CO Venture card posted a few days ago, So I called them.
Last year they waived it, But this year they say that the only option is to do a product change to a no AF card, however the Rep said that I wont get back the AF since it already posted... I tried HUCA and got the same info...
Is this their policy or just DROPR?
If it benefits even just one fellow DDFer, its worth posting it.

My AF posted and after a few phone calls the retention rep agreed to waive it. A few weeks later I checked and no credit was posted. I called back and spoke to a manager who told me that previous rep spoke incorrectly, and fee will not be waived.
After some more back and forth, all I was offered was a fee refund if I agree to cancel card immediately.

I couldn’t believe that capital one wouldn’t stand behind their reps statement, right or wrong. Do I have any recourse?

IME cap1 reps can only do what their computers allow them to(which isn’t much). Only the highest level supervisors can actually do something(and good luck reaching them).

I’d like to downgrade my card to no annual fee.
1) does it affect my points? Should I transfer them before?

I am renting a car in Israel and was advised to get a letter stating that my credit card covers CDW in Israel. Just called Visa and they told me that Israel is excluded from this benefit. Has anyone here been told otherwise?

For Cap1 it is.
