Just to add one crucial point that frequent miler left out.... you can transfer A3 between accounts for a fee of 15 euro (approximately 17usd) so can open multiple and combine... in essence buying 5k for $17...

I actually have real acquired miles I need to transfer. Hope the bloggers didn’t kill this for everyone.
(They could just make the minimum transfer amount 5001 miles to close the loophole)

aegean is once again allowing transfers, however with a new caveat, you need to have earned miles from flying also...after crediting your account, it can take a few hours for account to allow transfers

Where are you seeing this? 
I  have an account with earned miles and still not letting me transfer

interesting on the transfer miles information page it now shows that you cant, however it still lets you when you actually try transfer. 2 days ago it had an official announcment saying the info i had written

Update:  successfully transfered the points in my acct with a3 flight activity to my wifes new account
