One free line so cost before insider was would be 290

Gotcha, that makes sense. Considering I am able to get a free line that doesn't seem bad at all. Is there usually an activation fee?

Not IME, just the sim card charge.
Memories last forever, make them while you can.

$30/line to activate by phone or in a store, free on the website. I think they even charge this for upgrades.

Costco's system is reportedly back up and $300/line cash card promo/rebate for BYOD is still active. IINM you can do that and then get a device from T-mo, certainly once the rebate arrives.

It is. And subject to end once they stop extending it. It might be limited to x lines, maybe 2 lines.

Yup seems like it's a max of 2 lines.

If I decide to go for the Magenta plan, can I later easily upgrade all the lines to Magenta MAX?
How would that work with free lines, what type of plan would they be?

Free lines should transfer over to MagentaMax

Did you see any decent deals for 1st responders on phones. All the decent priced phones were priced for those with the magenta and max plans. Not the 1st responder plans.

Yes, most definitely. It really depends what you need, and what you consider a good deal. My family plan is 9 lines for about $160. Unlimited 5G (100gb "premium"), talk, and text.

That's a first responder plan, which you may not qualify for, but there are plenty of other options with them.
Can I ask how you got 2 free?

Sweet, thanks. My plan is to move from 8 lines to 10, and my hope is that my free lines (currently six, soon 7) will all get $40 discount on the base 9-plan rate. Can you confirm it works that way?

I also think I snagged a 20% insider discount (supposed to take affect when my bill cycles), and there's a chance I'd also get 20% off the 9-line base rate as well, even though most of those lines are free.

So it looks like this worked out for me bez”h.

I snagged 2x $300 Costco AAL rebates, the lines themselves are BOGO. So I now have 10 lines, 7 of which are free. It’s unclear if I can cancel any of them and still keep the 7 free lines, but maybe something to try in a year, as it’ll save me $32/month (I think).

20% insider confirmed as well, but still unclear how much that will be for me on MagentaMax, I fear the current insider discount codes differently and doesn’t apply the 20% to free lines like the older Insider does.

Switched to MagentaMax first day of current billing cycle, still waiting to see how low my next bill will be. Likely less than it was previously ($130-140/month for 8 lines, includes taxes), but if I’m lucky it’ll be below $100 for the monthly recurring plan charges.

Also snagged 2 free devices (after 24m bill credits) and 2 pairs of free (after rebate) earbuds for the new lines. Hopefully I could offload those here or elsewhere to make this plan change even more lucrative.

I started on a plan 3 lines for $120 about 3 or 4 years ago. I currently pay $120 for 11 lines

@Yikes2179

Might wanna look into getting an insider discount, the current codes expire 1/5 so might wanna try to find a supervisor with available codes who can do an override for you (since it’s officially for new customers only).

I’m also not sure how free lines code with Magenta Max FR 9+ line plan. You might get a bigger credit for your 7 free lines on that plan (off the base 9-line bucket) and end up with an overall lower bill than with your current plan. Something to look into.

I also wonder if all your lines get better network priority (than even regular MagentaMax) because of FR status.

If I walk into a random store and get a random employee's code it wont work?

No, the system only applies to to accounts activated within the last/next x days, not more than 45 days for sure, beyond that time window you need a supervisor override.

It’s still not clear to me if you can add a new line and get 20% on the entire account including existing lines as well. The fine print doesn’t specifically say either way and I don’t remember seeing reports either way either.

Any tips on finding a supervisor, or do you just need to HUCA once you find a code?
