Saw this on Reddit, and its going to be a clusterf*** because of a combination of factors:
1. It isn't clear which customers are/aren't affected (there are variants of many of these plans), supposedly customers will be notified but we'll see how that goes
2. You have to call in to opt out
3. It's very short notice, they aren't giving people too long to act
4. It isn't going to be clear how much customers expect to pay if they don't opt out
5. T-Mo just laid off a bunch of their most competent customer service agents when they fired a bunch of T-force reps after they tried to unionize, and lots of outsourced agents are going to be clueless about how to handle these calls even with documentation/training

Shame on T-mo for throwing away all the goodwill built up under Legere. If the FCC wasn't so corrupt they would push back against this.

Rumor of a new free line promo dropping tomorrow (BYOD, meaning it’s not eligible for device promotions). Might be targeted or only for certain plans, details not yet finalized/published.

There’s also a BOGO line promo going on now, not sure which plans are eligible.

This was doable for the long period of time when they had “3rd line free” and there was an active BOGO, those offers stacked.

Often these free lines are for customers that were active before the promo began.

If you’re getting 5 lines with T-mobile (and getting a premium plan because the price is right after factoring in the free lines), do it via Costco or the Costco phone number. IINM Costco members get $400/line in incentives on top of new customer device promotions (often flagship devices free with trade in after 24 months of recurring credits that cover 100% of device financing).

The two reps I’ve spoken to didn’t know anything about the promotion and said my account didn’t have this promo listed. Several reports of people qualifying, many reports of people not qualifying.

Certainly possible if corporate has quarterly numbers to hit, has happened before where they expanded the offers. Might also be a typical DROPR.

Nothing earthshattering, but T-mobile has more targeted offers for devices, they’re different and it’s a bit confusing:
1. $700 off Pixel 8 or 8 Pro
- Trade in a qualifying device (there’s a list, iPhone 7 or newer, similar for other brands), broken devices are accepted.
- Have a qualifying plan
- Be targeted
- Max 4 upgrades per account

2. $800 off any Apple, Samsung or Google phone with qualifying trade in
- Trade in any device, must be working and not carrier or manufacturer locked (e.g. iCloud or Google)
- Have a qualifying plan
- Be targeted
- Max 1 upgrade per account

I’m qualified for both, not sure how limited targeting is. The details can be found here;

Even worse, when I reached out I was told that I had an offer for my account but it expired a few weeks prior - wth, why even tell me? They couldn’t tell me when I was eligible?!
