There’s a new free BYOD line $35 activation charge) for Magenta Max and other top tier lines starting today.

Lots of reports on Reddit of customers with previous free lines qualifying despite the promo excluding them. Here are the terms:

The BYOD free line might also stack with $200 port-in promo, the last free line stacked with a similar promo for me, YMMV. Considering there was nothing excluding it and the port-in number cost me <$15 on eBay, it was a no-brainer to try.

The fun goes on, they called me back to tell me it was a mistake and I’m ineligible. But they apparently can’t cancel the line until I get the sim, so I guess we’ll see if the discount posts when the line gets added and the sim gets mailed out. They gave me $40 for my hassles.

Looking good so far, let’s see how my bill generates in two weeks:







If this works out I’ll have my plan maxed at 12 lines (they don’t allow more than 12 lines on these plans), with 9 of them “free”. I also got a $35 credit for the activation fees I paid, a $40 courtesy credit for them giving me mixed messages, and now I need to work on the $200 rebate for porting in a number.

Huca, preferably with non-t-force chat (e.g. chat on the website/app or 611 on iMessage), or call. Reddit is claiming the system isn’t stopping anyone with previous free lines from getting this promo auto-applied, unless they don’t qualify for another reason (non-qualifying plan like Essentials, One or Simple Choice, having cancelled a line in the past 90 days, etc.)

Spoke to my T-Mobile guy he said the day the promo released the terms switched a few times and if you caught it at the right time it should stick, otherwise it's not eligible for accounts with free lines and the discount may fall off.
