Deal Request: Multimeter
« on: November 26, 2020, 02:40:32 PM »
Anyone have any suggestions / deals on a decent multimeter?

Looking at these two, how do they compare?

They are pretty much the same. Ok for basic testing and even used for work in the field. If you need anything specific or more importantly accuracy then go with a Fluke.
It's worth too much.

Is fluke much better than kliens and Greenlee?

Which model from fluke would you recommend?
And would you recommend for one to get the plier style in the same tester or two separate ones.(meaning does that take away from the functionality?

Really depends on what you want to do with it. If it's for simple stuff such as checking a outlet or battery or a resistor etc then you don't need anything fancy.
The clamp meter is for checking amperage in a live cable.
If you tell me what your needs are I can tell you which one to get.
It's worth too much.

From testing Outlets, Fuses, car batteries, alternators on cars and using the ohms of resistance setting and or testing the
amperage for many different things, for example testing ignitors on ovens, spark plugs wires, and similar stuff( that's when I would use a clamp see if the igniter is weak or not.)

As well as testing appliances which are running 220V.
Testing fixtures such as a ballast.
  Mix of different uses.

Yes Fluke is usually the one that is the most accurate. You can also get from Amprobe which is close.
If you do it for work then invest in a fluke otherwise a cheaper one will do.
A clamp meter is great for the clamp feature (duh) and probably for higher voltage while a multimeter is for lower voltage and electronics testing.
There are many of both that should fit your needs.
It's worth too much.
