Really depends on what you want to do with it. If it's for simple stuff such as checking a outlet or battery or a resistor etc then you don't need anything fancy.
The clamp meter is for checking amperage in a live cable.

From testing Outlets, Fuses, car batteries, alternators on cars and using the ohms of resistance setting and or testing the
amperage for many different things, for example testing ignitors on ovens, spark plugs wires, and similar stuff( that's when I would use a clamp see if the igniter is weak or not.)
As well as testing appliances which are running 220V.
Testing fixtures such as a ballast.
Mix of different uses.
