Traveling from US to Canada for a US citizen
« on: November 26, 2020, 02:56:47 PM »
Hi all, I have a sibling living in Montreal and I want to visit him, but I saw on the Canadian gov website what they're asking for that makes it to complicated and no possibilities to surprise him!

Does anyone here know how I could get there to visit him?
Is it a difference if I drive up or I fly?

Any advice is appreciated..

TIA

Same here. I"ve been hearing different things from different people on their experiences on doing this. Two wrinkles in my case, I am actually a Canadian as well as American (still have my expired Canadian passport to prove it), and I specifically want to know about flying in and out on the same day, is that possible and would it make a difference. TIA

AFAIK it's a hopeless cause. YMMV if you get a nice border guy when driving you might get lucky but it's small chances
Still looking for a good MS method :)

My sister, who's husband was sitting shiva in Montreal 2 weeks ago, had a very hard time at the border when driving in to be there. So definitely YMMV.

I'm not sure myself, I know friends that got a letter saying they are a teacher and another friend that got some documentation saying he was importing goods.

Long gone are those days. Especially in areas where there is heavy "mishelanu" crossings.

Do you know from whom or how he got that documentation?
