What the actual bleepity bleep.

https://www.nbcnewyork.com/news/local/new-yorkers-may-have-to-pay-package-delivery-surcharge-to-help-fund-mta/2767045/

HT @PBaruch

These NYC politicians are amazing at finding every single way to increase taxes/surcharges/fees but for some reason it's just inconceivable to maybe cut back on all the excess, wasteful, useless spending they've done "to fill budget deficits."

Really need to check out what the FL living situation is like...

There will be more and more of these coming down the pipeline. Chase away business = tax the poor to make up deficit.

Just take a look what they are doing to the real estate market in nyc. It is mind boggling!

It costs nothing, or $6.25 to leave NYC, and can cost you up to $15.75 (or more if you are not a NYC resident or it's during rush hour) to come in. The math is simple, leave and never go back!
I'm not who you think I am.

The last straw for me was when I landed in JFK their was the National Guard standing there to take my information. I swore to leave NY. 3 weeks later I did. I had nothing holding me down there, some people have their whole lives there, but I still believe they should sell and leave before it's too late.

What would make it too late?

Selling assets there when they are worth very little.

I don't know if "too late" is the right term, as it will never be impossible to move, but maybe "too difficult" is better. Like this:

Selling assets there when they are worth very little.

IDK. As much as I hate NYC, it's the financial capital for the world. From speaking to a few big people in real estate, it's still the most stable investment. Is it possible to fail? Yes. But I wouldn't bet against it.

Goldman Sachs is not so concerned https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2020-12-06/goldman-plots-florida-base-for-asset-management-in-a-blow-to-nyc

Let's move all big businesses to red states and allow (force) the blue states on the coasts to secede from the union. They can enjoy the commie paradises until the money runs out.

What about the blue state employees of the businesses?

Let's move all big businesses to red states and allow (force) the blue states on the coasts to secede from the union. They can enjoy the commie paradises until the money runs out.

The problem is the employees of these companies bring their 'blue' votes and policies to 'red' states, similar to what's happening in Texas now
