The problem is the employees of these companies bring their 'blue' votes and policies to 'red' states, similar to what's happening in Texas now

The TX move to purple is not really because businesses brought blue employees.

What about the blue state employees of the businesses?

Let them move. Those states don't deserve Red tax dollars anyway.

The TX move to purple is not really because businesses brought blue employees.

What then?

At some point, the pendulum will swing.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

It's already swinging.

Pendulums swing in two directions, right now it's swinging in the direction of making NY worse. At some point, it will turn around (after enough rot and decay have settled in) and NY will come back. As long as I have kids in school, I ain't moving.

What then?

Working class whites make up 44% of voters, down from 66% in 1980. Growing immigrant communities and booming cities like Austin and Houston also contribute.

Which big businesses moved and brought employees with them between 2000-2015?

I don't know which businesses specifically and if they moved between 2000-2015, but the high tech sector in Austin particularly (I don't know if Houston also) has been attracting a lot of "blue" workers.

CA used to be red also. Only a matter of time for TX to flip because of the influx from CA to TX.

SXSW has been happening since 1987. IINM, the vast majority of Austin's tech scene is homegrown. People may be moving there to start businesses, but I don't know that a lot of companies have moved there and brought employees with them.

Tons of tech companies have started moving to Texas, specifically Austin.

Polls (for what they are worth) show that transplants to TX are more likely to be conservative that natives.

The point is, TX has been purple for a little bit now, and that trend started a while back. Can't blame some companies fleeing NY and CA for that.

Another thing is that companies are coming to realize how easy and accepting it is to work from home/remotely so that will probably effect the NY market a lot negatively.
