Meh. Price can only exist if somebody is wiling to pay for it. High prices mean many people are willing to pay for it.

CA has the 7th highest household income in the US, and 8th highest GDP per capita. It ain't going anywhere. More to the point, the vast majority of US value production is in liberal hands.

Also, is it high by percentage of local income? Supply and demand are not the only factors in a housing market (that can’t be transported to the lowest/highest bidder). Local prices and income matter greatly as well.

Brooklyn actually costs more per square foot on average than LA. SF, of course, beats both of them. LA is quite expensive, but at least in LA you get something for your money. You're not getting that in SF or Brooklyn.
