Not sure how much of his basket a single year’s Roth IRA is, but it isn’t all his eggs.

It's still all of the eggs of one of his baskets

Absolutely!

Investing should not be emotional, but sometimes humans are - and when I've found myself getting excited about specific stocks it was helpful to remind myself that I already have some exposure to them and will be participating in potential upside, and if afterwards I still felt (for solid non-emotional reasons) that I should have more exposure I bought a few more pieces of that specific stock without changing my whole approach.

Eh - I would think the emotional side to be of potentially making a ton of money, not just sharing in 2% of the upside, so I feel like wouldn't satisfy the emotional craving

Not if he already had multiple years of Roth IRA contributions. If he has 9 years of prior contributions, it’s 10% of his Roth IRA funds (assuming the funds grew it’s actually less). Money  is fungible, does it matter if the less than 10% is all of this year’s contribution or taken from the entire Roth IRA pool?

I misread his post and thought he said all of his contributions (i.e. ever) not just this years. You are right and I am wrong

Yep, everyone's different. It worked for me to mitigate some of the feeling and reorient myself.

Is it a good idea to be put this year's ROTH IRA contributions into Tesla stock (past few years did sp500)?
My plan is to move it to SP500 once Tesla goes back up (even if in a few years..). Sounds good?

Why TSLA? If it's because it's down 70%+, there are numerous stocks that are down even more. If you need proof that a stock's previous high isn't indicative of its future performance, just look at CSCO.

Why do you believe Tesla will go back up in 1, 5, 10 or 20+ years?
That will decide if it is a good idea or not.

Only on DDF does 24/6 mean 24/5/half/half
