Another toddler family thrown off a flight!
« on: December 13, 2020, 07:59:59 PM »
Just ridiculous!

Children, schools should be open as per the CDC, but a child sitting on the same row as parents on a plane, is the problem. And a 2 year old to boot!

They might as well ban children and be done with it

And if you have a problem sitting in the row ahead of that child, you should have a right to ask the airline to upgrade you to premium economy for free, and everyone would be happy.

But instead, the airline will keep many of those open during the flight, because nobody "paid" for them, and rather be sticklers with 2 year olds!

The guy who lines his tray with lollies and candies for his flight, won't be bothered the entire flight, but a 2 year old is the problem.

Maybe they should decide that since it is so dangerous to remove your mask, that no eating should be allowed on a 2 hour flight from NY to Florida, and if you are not capable of controlling yourself,  you shouldn't be allowed to fly.

But instead that's perfectly fine. But a 2 year old that you can't reason with is the problem. On the other JetBlue flight, even a pacifier was not good enough.

Food yes, babies no.

The problem is not really the airlines, it's the retarded flight attendants
I flew a few times and have seen kids not wearing masks, flight attendants didn't say boo
If it it was more common we would hear everyday of another story where kids were kicked off a plane
It's the retarted flight attendants.

Flight attendants should better get the vaccine as soon as healthcare workers.

And the airlines should prioritize those flight attendants willing to take the shot, vs those unwilling, when considering which workers to lay off.
They go with seniority, when deciding layoffs, but the older the flight attendant, the more at risk they are, and they more nervous they may be.
They should be there to service their clients.

On my most recent flight from SJO-EWR on AA, they packed everyone in the back, including middle seats, while Premium Economy was entirely empty.

So I have a flight to FLL in 2 weeks and I have a 2-year-old. Does anyone have advice/experience on how to avoid this? I have no interest in becoming the next news story and my 2-year-old will not wear a mask.
Maybe there is already a thread on this?

Idea #1: Don't have unreasonable expectations.

I might have misunderstood what @moishe1 was asking.  I thought he had high expectations for his child, and was wondering how to provide a child with the tools needed to reach those expectations - in this case, wearing a mask.  Some ideas in that regard are in the links I sent, which includes tips from parents who have been successful doing just that.

Could be he meant that he thinks mask-wearing is an unreasonable expectation, or thinks his child is incapable of change.  I'm sure someone else here has more useful tips to help him navigate that scenario.

You understood correctly, and we are very grateful for your linking those articles.

I was just questioning the premise of requiring a masks for 2 year olds. Nothing personal.

We've seen a handful of maskless toddlers and parents being kicked off a flight.  Are these the only times it occurred?  Or are there many more, but the parents don't record it and post on social media?  (If the latter, then moishe1 has at least a partial answer to how to avoid being the next news story.)

Has anyone seen a toddler (your own or others') actually keeping a mask on for most of a flight?
