CHI-NYC (new year's weekend) - help

need to fly from chicago-nyc nonstop on 12/30 (afternoon/night) and cash prices for OW are around $250.

i checked booking award tickets direct with united, AA, Delta and they were all ridiculous.

suggestions on getting a decently priced tickets, using cash or miles???

any downsides for hidden city, including airline blacklisting or coming after me for extra funds??

1. Don't check bags.
2. Don't enter your FF number.
3. Bad weather/IRROPS can screw up the routing... can happen in any season, but winter may be more prone to it...
