How to deal with ETC and Travelbank money
« on: December 14, 2020, 09:24:03 AM »
Hello,

I want to book a flight on United.

I have a $100 ETC and $200 on United Travelbank.

However, when I go to payment, Travelbank is unavailable.

I was wondering what would be the process to be able to use the $300 I have to pay for my next flight.

Let me know your thoughts.

Thanks!

Hjeko

Thank you for your response :)

The problem is that I can't use Travelbank to pay for my ticket first and then cancel it to get ETC.

That's why I was asking for advice :)

Thank you!

Any easy way to convert Travel Bank to ETC?
Book a flight and cancel for a ETC?

I have both ETCs and TravelBank.  Assuming they both have approximately the same expiration dates,...
which one offers me more flexibility to keep for future (ie, which should I use up first)?

Points to consider:
a. ability to extend beyond expiration
b. ability to buy for family member tickets
c.  ability to use on partner airlines
d.  ability to use only part of the ETC (vs ease of using only the amount needed with TB credit)

it doesnt seem to happen to everyone...
