Has anyone experienced a charging error in the Chevy Bolt "Unable to Charge" on the screen when plugged into a 120V outlet?

I'm considering buying a 2017 chevy bolt. Anybody own/lease one that can tell me their experience with it or any advice?

From what Ive seen on other forums it seems like for the most part people are happy with it.

I like it because it has decent range. For me it's plenty but I always want the option to be able to travel roundtrip between Lakewood and brooklyn and have some extra range.

It has an 8 year transferable warranty on the battery (I don't know the full details).

It's cheaper to own than a gas car.

There's currently a recall on them due to an issue with the battery. There's no fix yet so chevy is temporarily setting it to not charge the last 10%. I think the prices dropped somewhat because of that. For me it's a good thing because I would anyways do that.

Also I don't know if this is the right perspective but I think of it as a car that was originally 38k just 3 years ago now its roughly 15k. To me that seems like a good thing in a way.

What I don't like about it is the shape. A hatchback just isn't my preferred style but nu nu.
The main thing is the charging. Short term wise and long term. Short term, because its currently quite crowded in my driveway and I won't be able to have a dedicated spot that I can easily always have a plug available. Long term, if I plan on keeping it for a while I don't think I'll have a spot at all in the future for it when/if I get an apartment.

Currently there's only one charging station in Lakewood afaik by harley davidson.
My Tapatalk notifications don't always work.

I have a 2020 Bolt and follow another Bolt users group. Very happy with it. Buying a 2017 is typically a very good value. It indeed has good range, how far from Lakewood to Brooklyn? You should know all electric cars lose range in winter though.

As far as prices, Bolts are misleadingly priced. No one pays 38k for a Bolt. There's always lots of incentives.

For charging, it can be as simple as a 110v outlet. Make sure they include the original 110v charger with any used one, I've seen some exclude it. But keep in mind 110v @ 12amp charging isn't very fast, though the idea is to charge the car overnight. There are definitely apartment owners that have a Bolt, many of them charge at work via some arrangement.

If you want to get a look at what chargers are where, download plugshare to your phone and look around for level 2 chargers. There are probably more than you think. Typically, Harley Davidson has level 3 chargers. Level 3 is not included in a base Bolt, so, you should inquire if the 2017 has DCFC included or not. Any more questions?

I've used mine even for trips, wasn't too bad. Drove 900+ miles to Panama City FL in January, and back. Worked great, even that trip was cheaper than our Prius would have been.

Why post this rubbish in the Tesla thread?
Not Tesla specific but I would imagine a random long distance Tesla trip would face some of the same issues?

I see now Tesla has their own charging network so it’s probably not the fiasco in the article above.

Sounds like a couple of morons. The first giveaway is their shock at the charging curve, this is the basics and they had no idea. You never charge past 80% (even 80% is pushing it) unless you absolutely must (like driving through increasingly rare "dead zones") or if the car is sitting anyways like overnight. You also don't look for a 24kW charger. To me it sounds like they intentionally tried to have the worst road trip experience possible, so they can write an anti-EV article.
I wonder what people who type "u" instead of "you" do with all their free time.

Perhaps should go in an independent EV thread.
Thread split.

Thread split.
Sooooo EV6 vs Tesla 3? In todays market.
I would compare to the Y but price wise it's a bit less than the 3 and still has the federal tax credit.

As we have seen from the article, the charging network still can suck.

You can't see anything from that article. You need to try really hard to have such a bad experience.

Ioniq 5/EV6 are much smaller than the Model Y.

It's only cheaper if you can find a dealer willing to spell at sticker price.

I wouldn't call this "much smaller".
And about $10,000 less and tax credit?

Not what I'm seeing here.

3 feet is much bigger?
Only real difference is cargo area with seats. Curios as to the calculations. I know Tesla seats go all the way down. I think EV6 does as well.
