this is exactly what Dan is suggesting  to do here when he says:

I know what he is saying to do. I just personally dont feel comfortable messing with Amex on this. I'll get my two years of credits and be happy. Going for a third reminds me of Dan's lines about Pigs getting slaughtered.

So, 2 random data points (1 from a site that brags about getting shutdowns) among thousands of people that do this, with zero proof of what it's from.
I like those odds.

A friend of mine got a clawback (on a canceled card!) and the letter specifically stated, for using the airline credit and canceling the card.

BTW, correct me if I'm wrong, but AFAIK this is the first time you mentioned the triple dip in the headline any reason for that?

I just think that Amex is not predictable and the smallest thing can tick them off for a shut down.
Who would have guessed that self-referrals will trigger a shut down, and not just a clawback?
