Time sensitive question: Family member was scheduled to fly stopover in from NYC to TLV in MAD. Took off Sunday evening since flight was still scheduled to leave. After arrival in MAD they were told flight was cancelled. Got them a flight to TLV with a stopover in BCN (but they may need to pick up luggage cause first leg is Iberiea and Second is LY so quite a pain).

Just now while they are sleeping, I see a direct elal flight opened up from MAD to TLV. Issue is that the LY flight from BCN to TLV takes off at the same time and I don't want to cancel the current flight without speaking to them in the morning. Does elal automatically cancel a flight if you have two simultaneous bookings? TIA

Thanks to status match (and @Dan ) I am Delta Platinum Medallion, and about to hit El AL Silver IYH on Wednesday. My primary motivation in Delta Platinum was for perks to TLV, and for practical reasons I often only fly El AL since my most common route is LAX-TLV.
Question  - would I be best served crediting my flights to Elal or Delta? and what would be the most ideal way to book in the future? (these tickets were booked before status match was announced)

Does anyone know about Matmid accual on flights operated by LY but booked on DL code (due to better price and cancellation policy)? FWIW I have tickets booked in Delta classes L,T and Z.
If I give my Matmid number can I earn there? I have little use for a small DL skymiles balance...
Thanks

Really nice move of LY.

I was able to book someone from BKK to TLV for $690 instead of the going rate of $1850. Air India had cancelled her flight.
