2020 Year In Review: COVID Edition

With immeasurable gratitude to HKB"H for keeping me healthy and providing me the means to undertake twice-monthly transcontinental flights during the pandemic to be with my wife and children, as well as some amazing travel to Italy, Cairo, and Israel before Corona, here's my summary for 2020:
1. Almost 120,000 miles (Ad meah v'esrim  ).
2. Twenty transcontinental roundtrips.
 --Most eastbound flights were redeye, mostly ghetto lie-flat in B6
 --Several connecting flights, ~April-July, when the airlines cut way back on flights and made schedules difficult
3. LY J TLV-YYZ in January, culminating in making my first siyuum (thanks to my chevruta @Yehudaa )
4. I'm now Platinum Medallion on DL and expect to keep it through 2021 (status match challenge from Mosaic, thanks @Dan )
 --These days, seems more likely than not to be upgraded to First or Delta One

This was with 5 months of not travelling from mid March to mid August, so I would agree it is not bad.

The Japan trip was in the end of January 2020 / early February. COVID was a big thing in Asia, and was just barely making the news in the US at that point. I remember how foreign it felt to have the First class flight attendants wearing masks on the flights, something that only started here at the end of March / April.

We were from the few not wearing masks around Japan, many of the locals were and stores were already sold out of them there..

Sapporo Snow and Ice Festivals were the highlight of the trip. Beautiful city and amazing what they pull off making out of snow and ice.
