I started making a spotify playlist of the original songs from OTR2 - please let me know if any more of the original songs are on spotify and I missed them (I couldn't put all the original songs since not all are on spotify)

The Midos medley is basically like another MMM song tape.
I would have preferred if they included some songs about midos from other tapes, like Lost in Lazerland, Kivi and Tuki, and Uncle Moishy.

Average people talk about things
BIG PEOPLE TALK ABOUT IDEAS.

Ironically, the Midos medley is my least favorite medley on the album, though I may be one of only a select few to be bothered by it.

Abie Rotenberg is not only the greatest composer and singer (yes, singer), he is also the greatest musical arranger. The vast majority of his songs are perfect in their original form, and anyone seeking to recreate them has to be very wary to protect their unblemished integrity. Even his midos songs are far from whimsical, and I feel as this medley fails to give each song - and their arrangements - the respect they deserve.

One of my biggest pet peeves is when the reincarnation changes the scale on which the song was originally recorded. Yes, for some songs the scale is merely anecdotal, but for Abie songs, the often-somber undertones of the songs ride on the perfect scale (often a non-standard one) that Abie sings his songs in. Belting out a string of Abie masterpieces in a higher key, with key segments missing, does not allow me to fully appreciate the beauty of those songs.

No, it's not fair for me to criticize an otherwise EPIC album. But if you start up with Abie's songs, in my book you are asking for it.

If it goes anything like the last one, it'll go on all the platforms the day after I buy it.

And on amazon and then off again as soon as I rack up some no rush credits
Workflowy. You won't know what you're missing until you try it.

I disagree. The point of the OTR albums isn't to replace the originals (although that needs to be done in many cases...), it is to create enjoyable medleys. It does its job splendidly, and the Midos Medley does as well (and Joey's added shtick is great).
Also, the original MMM was on a budget and used computerized/synthesized music. In that sense, this is an improvement.

Ironically,

I haven't listened yet, waiting for the day after @zh cohen buys it, but in general I hate covers that don't add anything to the song. Do something different to make your version worthwhile and not just a note for note cover.

The exception would be an album like this, where the purpose is nostalgia, not the song itself. So if you need a key change or or to play with tempo to get it to fit the medley, the nostalgia still remains.

I agree with everything you both are saying, but I still don't find this medley enjoyable, because I am such a Abie aficionado. I don't think it's criticism for them, it's just a testament to how much I appreciate the unadulterated musical brilliance of Abie Rotenberg.

As I am putting together my playlist of originals, I am finding that the majority of these were never on records. It should have been called something like "Taped Up". 8) I am up to 35 of the 55. There are also a bunch that I need to find the files and others I need to copy off the record or tape if I can't get the digital version.

I counted 20-21 which were on records, though they were also on tapes.
